Attractions at the Expo

We want everyone to have a great time at the Independent Education Expo

We know it can be boring for children when Mum and Dad are asking important questions.

Which is why we are delighted to announce Science Wizards will be hosting the Children's Entertainment Area.

So keep little fingers busy with dazzling science experiments including:

• Make slime and take it home in a pot
• Make a paper helicopter and take it home
• Make and fire small rockets
• Balance ping pong balls on a hair dryer
• Pull tablecloth away leaving crockery behind on table
• Turn cups of water upside down without water coming out
• Balance drinks cans on their edge

If that’s not enough to keep them entertained whilst you talk to the schools and exhibitors, there will also be a face painter ready to turn your children into monsters, fairies, animals and other characters.  For older ones there will be a chance to test themselves with Wii Big Brain Academy and Sports Resort.

Unaccompanied children over the age of 4 can join Science Wizards for up to a hour, places are limited to 20.

For parents there will be a seminar programme featuring relevant, inspiring and insightful seminars. The varied topics will help you plan your journey into independent education for the first time, navigate the right route for your child as you prepare for the next stage and provide you with detailed information about where to turn to avoid a dead end.

Families can also enjoy the many attractions offered by Alexandra Palace. There is a full sized ice rink, onsite boating lake offering stunning views of the 196 acre park, a deer enclosure, rose garden, café, children’s park, play area, pitch and putt golf course, cricket ground, skate park and plenty of free parking.

It's a huge step in any young person's life. Leaving the structure and regimen of school life for the independence of the university environment can to unsettling. As parents, we worry. Will they find good friends and flatmates? Will they eat properly or stay up all night, surviving on a diet of ready meals and will they actually study? In short, can they adapt well to this new stage of their lives? Of course, if we could make it easier for them, we undoubtedly would.
